April Breweries of the Month- Central 28 Beer Company & Persimmon Hollow

Central 28 Beer Company

Located in our very own backyard, Central 28 Beer Company began its roots in DeBary, Florida in 2015. The dream for Central 28 Beer Company began as a conversation at a family holiday gathering. Kathy and Geoff DeBisschop and Kathy’s brother Dan St. Pierre decided to combine their years of experience in creating great craft beer and their unbridled enthusiasm for drinking it, founding the Central 28 Beer Company. Central 28 is a family-run and community-focused craft brewery producing hop-forward American style ale and flavorful Belgian style ale. Using the finest raw materials gathered from around the globe, Central 28 seeks to honor their Belgian roots and the inspiring American Craft Beer industry with every batch they brew.

The Half Wall proudly carries Central 28 beers! During the month of April, the brewery will be hosting promo nights at each of our locations – New Smyrna Beach on April 29th from 6pm to 9pm and in DeLand on April 28th, from 6pm to 9pm. Stop in and try some of their amazing brews!

Persimmon Hollow

Another local brewed favorite, Persimmon Hollow Brewing Company is situated in historic downtown DeLand, Florida. The backdoor of the brewery opens onto Artisan Alley, home of several great boutiques, an incredible farm-to-table restaurant and the famous Friday night farmers market.   Owners Andy Sistrunk and Robbie Carelli are passionate about American and Belgian-style craft ales. They live up to their company motto every day - “Drink Sensibly, But Get Weird”! Persimmon Hollow officially opened its doors in October 2014. The brewery takes its name from history. Before it was DeLand, the area was known as Persimmon Hollow. The microbrewery includes a large tasting room, where beer is sold by the pint as well as in 32-ounce and 1-gallon growlers. The brewing itself happens in the other half of the building. A glass wall divides the two spaces, making the brewing process visible to tasting room patrons. Eleven of the brewery’s beers are on tap, plus a cider from another small brewery. In addition to the Dee-Land White Boy, some of the company’s brews include the Beach Hippie IPA and the Funky Freddie Fitz stout, named for Sistrunk’s wife’s grandfather.

The Half Wall is home to several of Persimmon Hollow’s beers. In fact, come in to our DeLand location on April 7th from 6pm to 9pm for a taste of flavors during our Persimmon Hollow promo night. Samples of their beer can also be tried in our New Smyrna Beach location on April 8th from 6pm to 9pm. We look forward to seeing you!
